COFFY, the Central Okanagan Foundation for Youth Committee, is just that: a committee made up of youth, who are working in the community to serve youth focused organizations and activities. Since 2002, COFFY has building an endowment fund, where the income generated will be used to support youth activities in the Central Okanagan.

The members of COFFY also work as leaders throughout the Okanagan Community. Its members have been a part of:

Kelowna’s symposium for Global AIDS Awareness Day
Global Citizenship Week
SD #23’s Link/Web Crews and student councils

In 2006, COFFY was given the opportunity to work with Community Foundations of Canada in association with Youth In Philanthropy Canada and Heritage Canada. The Heritage Project provided COFFY with federal funding to be distributed in the Central Okanagan’s youth community.

COFFY would like to thank the individuals, families, groups, and businesses who continue to support the committee and the youth of the Central Okanagan.

The following organizations received grants from the 2006 Heritage Project funds:

  •  City of Kelowna: The Mayor’s Youth Forums (2 at $2500 each): $5000
  •  Mount Boucherie Secondary School’s Can-struction Project: $500
  •  The Return of the Peregrine Falcon Society: $1500
  •  TOTAL $7000

The following organizations received grants from COFFY in 2005:

  •  Central Okanagan Elizabeth Fry Society $2,7500
  •  Corporation of Peachland-Board for Life $2,000
  •  TOTAL $4,750

To join COFFY:

  1. You must be a youth between the ages of 13 and 21
  2. Want to be a leader and make a difference in your community

Please contact the Foundation at 861-6160 or email COFFY’s chair, Melissa Oakley, for further information.

One of the most generous endowments to be established at COF last
year has it's roots in the poverty of the Great Depression?
