Central Okanagan Land Trust

The Central Okanagan Land Trust is a registered charity that facilitates preservation of the natural areas and parks in the Central Okanagan

Guardian of the Future

Preservation of natural areas today assures ecological benefits for present and future generations.

Creating a Legacy

Outright gifts of land and the registering of covenants on land create a living legacy.  The donor fulfils a desire and receives a charitable receipt that reduces taxes on income.

Cash Donations

Gifts of cash may be designated to assist with grants and expenses that help preserve sanctuaries and parks, or may increase the endowment funds that provide annual income for the same purposes.

Generosity of Donors

Donors have generously made outright gifts of properties, registered covenants to preserve habitat; given cash for grants and expenses to help acquire and preserve properties; given cash and shares of public companies to establish endowment funds; and made provisions in their wills that will preserve sanctuaries

Comments from our Supporters

"The property that we gave has always been a sanctuary and the Trust will assure that it remains undisturbed."

"The Greenway relies on the Trust to accommodate ownership and protection of gifts of property."

"We are secure in knowing the Trust will continue our stewardship, after we are gone."

"The acquisition of several vital parks by Regional District would not have happened without the support of the Trust."

"The endowment fund enabled us to recognize a family member and provide annual income to support the work of the Trust that we believe in."

Income Tax Savings

Taxes on income are significantly reduced by any gift to the Trust.

The portion of the gain on disposal of land and shares that is taxed is reduced by one half.

Donors should consult their professional advisor.

Affiliations

The Trust is affiliated with Central Okanagan Foundation and is a member of the Land Trust Alliance of British Columbia.
