WHAT WE DO

The Central Okanagan Foundation encourages contributions to endowment funds that provide long term, sustainable support for community charities and provides ways to make an immediate impact today.

WHAT IS AN ENDOWMENT FUND?

All donations, whether large or small, are pooled and then invested. The investment income is distributed as grants to local charitable organizations. The capital continues to grow with each new gift, generating income that meets a wide range of community needs for years to come.

Your donation is not just a charitable gift for today; but also for tomorrow...and forever!

CENTRAL OKANAGAN COMMUNITY IMPACT FUND

We have learned that the communities we love are constantly facing new and mounting challenges. In responding to urgent issues, our ability to move quickly is paramount.

The IMPACT FUND was created as a flexible supplement to traditional revenue streams. It serves as an "Area of Greatest Need" and supports Donors' ability and desire to cause and effect change as a situation emerges or within a short term time horizon. It was designed to be responsive, and meet the needs of granting opportunities, operational expenditures, and other initiatives that benefit our communities. It is non-endowed and at the discretion of the Board as requests or situations arise. It is administered under a defined policy permitted under the Central Okanagan Foundations' Constitution and the rules governing public foundations in general.

Understanding that any crisis, is generally difficult to plan for, but can be felt in every corner and fabric of our communities, the Central Okanagan Foundation established this as a priority area of funding and will address the immediate needs of organizations in our region by providing adaptive support, remaining flexible to deal with evolving need of where it is needed the most.

We are grateful to our Donors for considering a gift to this area of need.
